That's a little bizarre! I'm surprised I've never seen that. I imagine it would take some repetition for a student to be able to use that for recall, but very effective. It's like all the math magic out there. I want to try this now and see how students take to it.
ReplyDeleteMy step brother used his hands and a numbering trick on paper to remember a few multiplication facts and his teacher counted his entire test wrong because he was not able to memorize his times tables and (according to her) would not be able to use these tricks in the 'real world.' Where they find those teachers I'll never know.
