It's difficult to shake society out of the linear paradigm we've seemingly been afflicted with over the course of our collective existence. This is why there are many examples of late-life success stories. Our classrooms need to be mental havens where the students can feel safe to explore the Universe. More outdoor exploration... more centers... more independent projects... more... more... we've heard all this before and believe it will work. But somehow we're not implementing it well enough or not at all. How do we get the ball rolling? We need to communicate with one another formally and informally to share ideas. We're turning a corner in education. Still I'm not ready to admit that it's just the old timers who need to move aside. There must be some way to "rehabilitate" them and bring them back into this newly-created fold. There should be a formal mentoring community within each school that would assist educators who would like to improve their craft. Many educators, I feel, believe a lack of that avenue.
